Authentication in Art Foundation

The Authentication in Art foundation is an independent non-profit organisation that was established in early 2012 by Rudi Ekkart and Milko den Leeuw. The foundation complies to international non-profit regulations and is based in The Hague, International City of Peace and Justice (the Netherlands). The Authentication in Art Foundation has an ANBI-status under Dutch Law. Accordingly none of its Board members receive any form of compensation, neither monetary or non-monetary

The Authentication in Art foundation board consists of

Prof Dr Nico Schrijver – chairman
Professor Nico Schrijver is Chair of Public International Law at Leiden University, and Academic Director at the Grotius Centre for International Legal Studies, Leiden University/Campus The Hague. He is also Visiting Professor on Europe and North-South relations at the Université Libre de Bruxelles, at the Institute of Law of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, Beijing and at the Universiti Teknologi Mara, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia; President of the Netherlands Society of International Law; Member of the Royal Netherlands Academy of Arts and Sciences (since 2008); Member of the Permanent Court of Arbitration, The Hague; Member (member associé) of the Institut de Droit International (elected in 2007); and Member of the UN Committee on Economic, Social and Cultural Rights. He has an extensive publications record

Drs Ingeborg de Jongh – treasurer & secretary
Ingeborg de Jongh is an art-historian and a painting conservator. She works at the Atelier for Restoration & Research, an internationally operating atelier and laboratory for technical investigation and restoration of paintings, which she established in 1991 together with her colleague Milko den Leeuw. She has studied art history at the Vrije Universiteit, Amsterdam followed by conservation training at the atelier Dora van Dantzig, Amsterdam. She completed her internship in the conservation of paintings at the Museum of Fine Arts, Budapest with a specialization in 16th and 17th century Dutch Masters. She has been working as an external conservator for Christie’s Amsterdam since 2000 as well as for Dutch museums, art dealers and private collectors worldwide. As an art-historian as well as a conservator she has worked on several recent interdisciplinary publications in the field

Willem Russell LLM – member of the board
Willem Russell has been practicing law since 1975 . He is a solicitor with the lawfirm Warendorf in Amsterdam. Throughout his professional career he has been on the board of many institutions and organizations. He has a keen interest in art and has dealt with many art & law cases

  • The Authentication in Art Organization offers a platform for professional discussions based on mutual respect and understanding
  • Attendees and speakers are expected to adhere to these principles. Marketing or discussions of private matters will not be tolerated during the Congress sessions
  • The Authentication in Art Organization holds the right to refuse attendance of, or expel from, the Congress any individual who breaks or suspected to break the code of ethics
